How to Go Back to Work Relaxed After a VacationPrepare for a Smooth Return Home
Tips for making the return home after a vacation as pleasant and free of stress as possible.
Going on vacation is a wonderful way to get away from the rush of your work and other commitments, but the return home after your vacation can be a nasty shock, unless you prepare for it. These simple steps will minimize your post holiday blues. Clean Your HomeBefore you leave on vacation, ensure that your home is clean and tidy. Plan this in advance to avoid a last-minute rush, or if you are busy with holiday preparations, why not why not hire a professional cleaner? Plan a Nice Meal for Your Return HomeNo doubt you will eat good food during your vacation, so plan a fine dining experience for your return. You might leave a good quality pre-prepared meal, or a menu of a favorite takeout or delivery restaurant. Unwind Before the Return to WorkConsider taking an extra day off work to unwind before returning to the office. Prepare treats for the day, order a book or DVD to greet you when you return, or plan a meal with friends. A day spa trip is a great way to unwind at any time, and especially on your return from vacation. Seeing friends and enjoying your home are great compensations of the return from vacation, so make the most of these by planning ahead. The Weeks Following your VacationOf course, you will need to return to work at some point! Smooth the transition to the world of work by planning some pampering in the weeks following your vacation to help ward off a build-up of stress and to keep alive your sense of well-being gained during your vacation. Start Something NewThe period immediately following your vacation is a good time to start a new activity, such as an exercise program or a course of study. You will have gained perspective on your life plans during your vacation, so will be better able to anticipate the longer term benefits of the activity. Immediately after a vacation is a great time to start as it can be difficult to find the motivation to go to the gym, or to get the study materials out, when you are in the thick of work and family commitments! Think of the Kids Too!Children may find the return to everyday life difficult too. Plan a treat or two for them, perhaps a sleepover with friends, or a fun outing. They will be keen to tell family and friends about what you did on your vacation, so why not turn this enthusiasm into a learning opportunity by buying them some books and DVDs about your holiday destination. And finally, why not begin to plan your next vacation so you can enjoy thinking of holiday ideas well in advance!
