Earth Day isn't the only environmental event to be held in April. Check out some of these other eco-oriented programs, conferences and rallies to be held during the coming month in various corners of the globe:
March 31 - April 1 (Oakville, Canada)
7th Annual Halton Eco Festival
Set at the Glen Abbey Recreation Centre, the festival includes 60 exhibitors, a kids' eco fun area, 16 free educational workshops and an eco cafe.
April 14 (Chester, U.K.)
Ashton Hayes Going Carbon Neutral 2007 Conference
Organizers are inviting other interested individuals and communities to learn from the experiences of Ashton Hayes, a town in Cheshire that set out to become the first carbon-neutral small community in the U.K. The program will be held at the University of Chester.
April 14 (various locations, U.S.)
Step It Up's National Day of Climate Action aims to draw thousands of participants across the U.S. who will rally at locations across the country to call attention to the threat of global warming. Many events will be held at ecologically sensitive locations that stand to be most harmed by climate change, and organizers are still seeking additional participants to plan more events in their areas.
April 21 - 22 (Chicago, U.S.)
To be held at McCormick Place, the Chicago Green Festival will include an eco-mall with more than 200 exhibits, an Organic Valley of Family Farms Kids' Zone, green career and green investing sessions, and more than 150 speakers, including Amy Goodman of Democracy Now!; Frances Moore Lappe, author of "Hope's Edge: The Next Diet for a Small Planet"; and journalist Greg Palast, whose latest book is "Armed Madhouse: From Baghdad to New Orleans -- Sordid Secrets & Strange Tales of a White House Gone Wild."

First held in 1970 to raise awareness about environmental problems, Earth Day is now observed by millions of people around the globe.
April 25 - 27 (Seattle, U.S.)
This regional green building conference, organized by the Cascadia Region Green Building Council and the AIA Seattle Committee on the Environment, will feature a variety of environmentally responsible project designs.
April 27 - 29 (Toronto, Canada)
To be held at the Direct Energy Centre, Exhibition Place, in Toronto, the Green Living Show will feature more than 200 exhibitors; talks by Al Gore, George Monbiot and Margaret Atwood; a marketplace with locally grown organic produce; a Green Living kids' zone; and more.
