It is easy to make your own unscented bubble bath. You can customize your bubble bath just as easily. Your natural bath experience will be free of any detergents, toxic or harsh ingredients. Your own bubble bath made out of natural soap will not be nearly as sudsy as the commercial brands.
This is because there are no harsh sudsing agents added to your bubble bath. All you need is a natural cleansing bar and water. Natural soaps are typically made from either vegetable and/or animal fats. The natural soap is carefully sliced or grated into hot water to melt the soap.
First, heat eight cups of water. It does not have to be boiling or even simmering. While the water is heating, slice or grate a bar of soap. Be careful because you have to apply a fair amount of pressure to slice or grate a bar of soap. (If you plunk the entire bar of soap in the water, it will melt though it may take a day or so.) You can add the soap to the heating water as the soap is sliced or grated to speed things up.
When the soap is added, remove the water from the heat. The soap will start melting within minutes. Stir it every ten minutes or so to complete the melting. You can use a hand blender to both break up the soap and blend it into the water.
Stir The Cooled Mixture Vigorously
When the soap is completely melted and blended into the water, it is ready to use. You can wait to bottle it the next day. This will allow two last stirrings to the cooled mixture spaced 20 minutes apart, which helps thicken the bubble bath mixture. Make sure it is cool when you put it into its container so you can be certain of the texture. You can recycle a large shampoo bottle or milk jug for your bubble bath. Label and date your bubble bath.
You can customize your bubble bath by adding one or two tablespoons of vegetable oil to the bubble bath mixture. You can add the oil when it is heating or after the bubble mixture has been added and the bath water has finished running. Natural soap is made from oils, fats or vegetable butters so the vegetable oil will blend easily in the bath water. Adding either coconut oil or castor oil will add sudsing action.
Another way to personalize your soap is to add your favorite tea bags to the heating water and almost bring to a boil and let steep. An alternative method is to pour boiling water over the herbal tea bags and let the tea steep. Make a very strong brew with at least seven tea bags. Remove the tea bags before adding the sliced or grated soap to the very hot brewed tea. If you add loose herbs or tea, strain the water before adding the soap.
Some herbs or teas that would be suitable for your bubble bath include green tea and peppermint. You can also add other herbs or teas if you are not allergic or sensitive to them. Chamomile is a favorite skin herb yet it is related to the ragweed family and may cause a reaction for some people.
By creating your own bubble bath, you can have a natural skin care solution without the chemicals or detergents. Your mild product will not have any synthetic fragrances in it. Your natural bubble bath will be suitable for sensitive skin when allergic reactions have been ruled out for any herbal products. It is easy to use special natural bath recipes.
