A review of some of the top green living news stories of February 2007
What was new on the green living front in February? Some of the headlines from last month include:
The Sustainable Endowments Institute releases its College Sustainability Report Card, which grades 100 top colleges in the U.S. on green practices and policies. Institutions receiving an overall "A-" or better include Harvard University, Stanford University, Dartmouth College and Williams College.
Arlington County, Virginia, announces a "Green Living Challenge," a competition that will award prizes to the area's most environmentally conscious residents. The contest is part of AIRE, the Arlington Initiative to Reduce Emissions.
The mayor of London announces plans to cut the city's carbon emissions by 4 percent a year through 2025. The Climate Change Action Plan, "Action Today to Protect Tomorrow," includes programs for green homes, green organizations, green energy and green transport.
The Foundations for Living Trust launches a two-year program aimed at making St. Philip Parish the first green parish in Barbados.
A survey by Mintel reports that one in five adults in the U.K. say they are "too busy" to care about the environment, and that another 17 percent suffer from "Green Overload" that leaves them cynical and believing there is little they personally can do to help the environment.
