Looking for others as concerned as you are about protecting the planet? Following are my favorite links to organizations that promote green living, biodiversity and sustainability: Center for Biological Diversity The center uses conservation biology, advocacy and litigation to help protect animals and plants threatened with extinction. The center provides grants to support education programs for sustainable living. The non-profit Clean Air Conservancy works to develop markets for greenhouse gas emission-reduction credits. Co-op America promotes consumer choices that protect social justice and sustainability, supports green and fair-trade business practices, and works to fight corporate irresponsibility and build sustainable communities. EarthWatch helps volunteers become involved in scientific field research and education to promote a better understanding of what it takes to create a sustainable environment. Environmental Defense combines science, economics and legal action to protect the environment and the environmental rights of people to clean air, clean water, healthful food and healthy ecosystems. This organization works with other groups around the globe to fight the privatization of fresh water and ocean resources, and to promote humane, sustainable and chemical-free agriculture. This international network of grassroots groups works to create a more healthy and more just world. Kitchen Gardeners International Kitchen Gardeners International aims to promote greater food self-reliance through kitchen gardens, home cooking and sustainable local food systems.
